I am a Kiwi who spent 12 years in the UK and came back to NZ three years ago with my sons after my marriage breakdown. As a solo parent it has been a struggle adjusting. My eldest son went back to the UK of his own accord to be with his Dad, and my younger son was taken and kept by his Dad for four months on a routine visit back to the UK. I managed to get my son back via The Hague Convention after a very traumatic trip back to the UK.
Both my youngest son and I are now working on getting back to normal living and rebuilding our lives in NZ. My entering this campaign was all about celebrating the strong woman that I have become.
